Benefits of membership
The OUGS is the third largest geological organisation in the UK. It is also
the largest student geological society. Many events are organised each year,
including field trips and lectures. Earth science students and enthusiasts can
benefit from the support and expertise of fellow members. Members receive a
journal bi-annually and a bi-monthly newsletter. Examples of our newsletters
are available below in Adobe Acrobat format.
[February 2004] [May
2004]
The North West branch is the second largest in terms of membership. Field trips
are held through the year, except for winter, when we have two lecture events.
Our members receive five local newsletters a year, that contain articles and
details of upcoming events. We also have a large library
of geological books and maps that members can borrow.
